About The Department

Since inception of Sri Ramkrishna Sarada Vidya Mahapitha in 1959, the department of Philosophy started its journey by offering Pass Course in Under Graduate (B.A.) and one year university entrance course with the affiliation to The University of Burdwan. The Honours Course was introduced in 2007. This department has been following the UGC-CBCS curriculum for honours and general courses form the session 2017-18 onwards.

Vision & Objectives

  Philosophical knowledge inspires one to explore the truth, to realize the purpose of life and to reach the ultimate goal. A career in philosophy allows students to think rationally and to analyse and comprehend ideas logically. Philosophy makes them aware of truth and reality of every aspects of life. Philosophy as an academic discipline moves students for becoming a man in true sense by providing ethical values and rich cultural heritage of the Indian intellectual traditions.

  The Department of philosophy envisions establishing a centre of quality learning for Philosophical study to candle the ever effulgent light of knowledge among the students by providing quality, affordable and accessible education. Our department aims at educating students through various academic and non-academic activities through co-ordination and co-operation among faculties and students in a homely atmosphere. In addition to the lecture method, special interactive classes and group discussions are arranged to improve learning as well as communication skill and to encourage them in group activities. Extra remedial classes, academic counselling and mentoring are organized specially for the slow learners. In order to boost up self confidence of the students the faculty guides them in organizing Departmental seminars.
